It is the Democrat's duty this week to chronicle the death of little Miss Artie Van Roekel, ten year old daughter of Tony and Jeanette (Vander Meer) Van Roekel, living northeast of town. The little girl had been ill for almost three weeks and everything that love and care could do was done, but to no avil, and she departed this life Tuesday morning. Death was due to pneumonia and heart failure and for two weeks she had been in the care of a trained nurse.

The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the house at one o'clock and at two o'clock in the Reformed Church here. Reverend Douwstra of Boyden having charge of the services, after which the remains were laid to rest in Nassau Township Cemetery.

Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved parents and relatives in the loss of their dear one.
