Lyle E. Fogelman passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Bloomington, MN.

Family will receive friends and host a luncheon starting at 11am, Thursday, November 7th, 2019 at St Victoria Catholic Church, 8228 Victoria Dr. Victoria MN. Funeral mass will follow at 12:30.

Lyle, son of Amos and Alice (Dannen) Fogelman was born in Parker, SD, on September 6, 1931. He was raised on a farm in the rural Parker area by his mother and step-father, Carsten “Shorty” Knudsen. He received his primary education at a country school and graduated from Parker High School in 1949. He later graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls in 1957 with a BA Degree in Business Administration.

Lyle was activated into active duty through the South Dakota Air National Guard in 1951. His military career was spent at the Air Force bases in Sioux Falls, SD; Rapid City, SD and Honolulu, HI. After his active duty, Lyle returned to South Dakota to marry his high school sweetheart, V. Joann Shaeffer on August 25, 1952. They were blessed with four daughters.

Lyle’s business career started in auto parts sales in 1952. In 1953 he gained employment at John Morrel in Sioux Falls, SD as a night shift Supervisor of the Computer Room and later assumed the role of Assistant Office Manager. In 1967 he relocated his family to Sioux City, IA and began employment with Iowa Beef Processors (IBP) as Benefits Manager. In 1978, he and his family moved to Orange City, IA where Lyle assumed the position of VP of Personnel with K-Products, Inc. He retired from K-Products in 1991 and continued his business career on a part-time basis as a Human Resources Consultant with several local businesses (primarily with Groschopp, Inc in Sioux Center, IA) until he retired full-time in early 2011. Lyle and JoAnn moved to the Minneapolis/St Paul area in 2013 to be closer to their daughters and their families. Lyle was quite active in community activities which included the Boy’s Club and Junior Chamber of Commerce in Sioux Falls, SD and later the Orange City Development Corporation and St Mary’s parish in Alton, IA. Other personal interests included furniture refinishing, cast iron toy collections, home and yard upkeep, feeding and watching birds, and maintaining a healthy living with exercise and just being happy with life.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, JoAnn, four daughters and spouses Kathie and Stacy Christensen, Connie and Jim Schroeder, Jill and Ed Carlson, Jodi and Bryan Olson, all who reside in the Minneapolis/St Paul area, plus ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Lyle is also survived by three sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers and two grandsons.

Condolences can be sent to Joann and family c/o Connie Schroeder, 19 Norman Ridge Dr, Bloomington, MN 55437. Any gifts received will be used to continue to supply bird seed at his recent residence, Wealshire of Bloomington.
