Cathy Coons, 54, of San Angelo, Texas, formerly of Hawarden, died Wednesday, August 16, 2000 at her residence in San Angelo.

Funeral services was held Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden, with the Reverend Le Roy Seuntijens officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton, 1121 South Bryant. San Angelo, Texas, 76903.

Cathy R. Coons was born February 25, 1946 to Clifford and Carrie Campbell in Akron. She attended schools in rural Akron before moving with her family to Alcester, where she attended and finished school there. She worked in Alcester with her family in Carries Café. She was united in marriage to Russell “Gene” Coons on December 28, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden. They made their home in Hawarden and Ireton, until 1975 when she moved with her family to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1979 she moved to Dumas, Texas for 19 years and later to San Angelo.

Mrs. Coons was baptized in Akron and confirmed in the Catholic faith where she was an active member in churches where she lived.

She survived by her husband Russell “Gene” of San Angelo; a daughter, Shelly Tehan of Amarillo, Texas; her mother, Carrie Campbell of Vermillion, South Dakota; a sister Colleen Campbell Bohr and husband, John of Mitchell, South Dakota; three brothers, Clayton and Barb Campbell and Conroy Campbell of Vermillion; Craig and Kathy Campbell of Glenarm, Illinois; a brother-in-law Myron and wife, Linda Coons of Ireton; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford and a sister, Carol.
