Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Jake Van Klompenburg, 54, who died in Grossmann Hospital Sunday after a long illness due to cancer. Services were held at the home of his parents, John and Dirkje (Mulder) Van Klompenburg, Sr. and at the First Reformed Church with the Reverend F.B. Manson officiating. A.D. Van Etten was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the local cemetery.

Jake Van Klompenburg, passed away Sunday at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. He was born March 1, 1897 at Orange City and when a small boy moved with his parents to a farm south of town. The departed lived on a farm 5 miles south of Boyden, farming with his father and later continuing alone, and until his illness prevented him last spring. For some time he stayed at the home of his parents but later entered Grossmann Hospital where he was for nearly three months.

He leaves his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Van Klompenburg of Orange City, and the following brothers and sisters: John of Bellflower, California; Ike of Maurice; Grave, Mrs. Edward Vellinga of Rock Rapids; Gerrit, Henry, William and Dick of Orange City, and Rena at home with her parents.
