Funeral services for Ali Coons, 74, longtime resident of the Ireton and Hawarden vicinities who died Sunday at his home in Primghar. Burial was at Ireton.

Mr. Coons was born April 13, 1883, at Ireton. He farmed in the Ireton vicinity until 1940 when he moved to Hawarden and in 1947 he moved to Primghar.

He married Ruth Elliott September 13, 1906, at Ireton and to this union nine children were born.

Mr. Coons lost his eyesight in 1949 and had been in ill health since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Coons observed their Golden Anniversary in 1956.

Surviving are the widow and six daughters – Mrs. Emil Swanson of Des Moines, Mrs. Herman Van Leeuw, Mrs. Walter Brandt, Miss Joyce Coons, Mrs. Lois Gustschow, Mrs. Milly Coons all of Primghar; three sons – Russell Coons of Ireton, Leo Coons of Storm Lake, Donald Coons of Andrews, Texas; sister – Mrs. Lena Parker of Ireton, 8 grand children
