Mary Loretta Coons, 82, died on Monday, July 22, 1991 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were scheduled for 10:30 A.M. on Thursday morning, July 25, 1991 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden. Father Edmond Adams officiating. Friends may call at the Porter-Dow Chapel in Ireton until 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, after which the body will be taken for a 7:00 P.M. prayer service. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton.

Mrs. Coons was born on April 18, 1909 at Hawarden, Iowa, to John and Maude (Rembe) Muth, and attended school at Chatsworth and Hawarden. She was united in marriage to Russell Coons on December 19, 1939 at Hawarden; together, they farmed Southeast of Ireton. Russell died on October 7, 1979.

Loretta was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Struble.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Cathy Coons of Dumas, Texas and Myron and Linda Coons of Ireton, Iowa; five grandchildren. Shelly (Mrs. Jay) Tehan of Amarillo, Texas and Rusty, Eva, Lynette and Sara Coons of Ireton; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
