From the Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, December 3, 1918:

MRS. PERRY DIES
Had Been an Invalid for Past Two Years

Mrs. Perry, wife of John B. Perry, died at her home 723 Cedar street on Friday morning at eight o’clock after a long illness caused by dropsy and other complications. Mrs. Perry had been an invalid for the past two years and suffered the martyrdom of sickness with a patience and forbearance which were exemplary and was grateful for the ministrations of her family and friends who did their utmost to alleviate her pain and suffering. She was cheerful, contented and self-controlled even when her body was racked with pain and took a wholesome pleasure and interest in the world and its events.

Mrs. Perry was born at Platteville, Wis. on December 14, 1857. Her maiden name was Olive Ann Stephens. She came to Plymouth county in 1883 and was united in marriage with John Perry on March 31, 1891. They lived on a farm until moving to LeMars some years ago.

There are left to mourn her departure her husband and two daughters, Miss Ada Perry, at home, and Mrs. Jane Sweetman, of Chicago, two sisters, Mrs. James Rowe of LeMars and Mrs. John Hardcastle and two brothers, Almond and Sidney Stephens, of Platteville, Wis.

The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the First Baptist church, Rev. E. L. James officiating, and interment made in the LeMars cemetery.

Mrs. Perry was an active worker in the First Baptist church and in the aid society. She was a good wife and mother and a helpful neighbor and gained many friends in the community where she lived for more than a generation.
