Research note: A report on ancestry.com (by others) lists the mother of his last three children as Antje VanderMeer born 1830 died 1871 married 3 July 1857 at Pella Iowa . First marriage to Jetske Ymes Hiemstra 1816-1847, children Dieuwke 1839, Boukje 1841 and Ymkje 1844. His first wife died at sea enroute to USA 1847.
