John Van Es died Saturday morning at about 7 o'clock in his home in Orange City at the age of 78 years. His death was caused by a heart attack.

He was born on May 17, 1862 in Pella and was united in marriage with Anna Roos at Newkirk February 26, 1886. Twenty years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Van Es moved to Orange City and they have lived here ever since.

Mr. Van Es is survived by his widow, five children: Tillie, Mrs. Ben Lyftogt of Sheldon; Gerrit Van Es of Alton; Dick Van Es of Alton; John Van Es of Sheldon; Jake Van Es of Alton; and one sister, Mrs. Jane Roos of Hospers.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home with Mr. Outhout of Sioux Falls in charge. Burial was made at Newkirk.
