Mrs. Evelyn Stoneman, age 73, of Viroqua, Wisconsin, formerly of Orange City, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Riverdale Health Care in Muscoda.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, December 27, at 1:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Ronald Wheeler will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, at the funeral home.

Evelyn Marie was born on December 10, 1946, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Charles William and Catherine Elizabeth (Brown) Brown. She was raised on a farm in the Bloomfied area and attended the Black Hawk one room country school and graduated from the Bloomfield High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in art education from the Northeast Missouri State University.

She was united in marriage to Loren Doyle Stoneman on December 20, 1975, at the Oak Grove Chapel in St. Joseph, Missouri. From 1989 to 2004, they resided in St. Joseph, where they attended the Family Worship Center Assembly of God. She taught art in several communities, including Wathena, Kansas; and Maysville, Stewartsville, Kahoka, and Pattonsburg, Missouri. She also worked at MidCity Excellence Community Learning Center in St. Joseph. They moved to Orange City in August of 2004 and attended the Dover Avenue Alliance Church. Loren passed away on November 25, of that same year, in Orange City. In 2014, Evelyn moved to Viroqua, Wisconsin to be closer to her daughter.

Evelyn enjoyed making crafts, playing Scrabble, and participating in Bible studies. In earlier years she liked to travel when she was able.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Lorrinda Stoneman Waege, and her husband, James Waege, of Tomah, Wisconsin; a sister, Marilyn Brown (Bruce Long), of Bloomfield; and a brother, Charles Brown, and his wife, Pearl, of Bowling Green, Missouri.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Brown; and an infant sister, Judith Kay Brown.

Memorials may be directed to the Dover Avenue Alliance Church in Orange City or the St. Joseph Christian School in St. Joseph, Missouri.
