Mallis Vande Weerd died suddenly Saturday morning while on his way home from town. He was talking with a friend, walked a few steps and fell. Death came before relatives could be called.

Funeral services will be held at the home of his brother, Bert Vande Weerd and at the First Reformed Church with military honors.

Mallis was born May 21, 1889 at Washta, Iowa and had reached the age of 57 years, 9 months and 10 days at the time of his passing. He spent about 16 years around Woodbury County and Orange City and moved with his folks to Crookston, Minnesota, where they remained for ten years, then coming to Rock Valley where he spent the rest of his life except for the time spent in service at home and aboard in World War I. He always made his home with his parents until the time of their death.

He is survived by five brothers and four sisters. Herman of Rock Valley, Katie, Mrs. William Vande Velde of Bellflower, California, John, Bert, Arthur, and Marie, Mrs. Ted Bauman of Rock Valley, Hattie, Mrs. Myron Babbs of Ashmore, Illinois, Henrietta, Mrs. John Vanden Berg of Sioux Falls of Sioux Falls of Sioux City.
