Funeral services were held at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley at2 P.M. November 23 for Herman Vande Weerd, 82, of Rock Valley, who died at the Rock Valley Nursing Home November 19.

Services were conducted by the Reverend John Engbers and burial was in Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley.

Mr. Vande Weerd was born January 21, 1891, at Washta. He married Jennie Van Eldik January 20, 1914 in Rock Valley. She died in 1939.

Survivors include a son, John, of Storm Lake; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Vugteveen, of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Donald Den Herder of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; a sister, Mrs. Marie Bauman of Florida; three brothers, John and Bert, both of Rock Valley and Henry of South Sioux City; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
