Neal Diekevers dies at age 62 HOSPERS — Neal Diekevers passed away Sunday noon, August 11, at the Grossmann hospital at Orange City. He attained the age of 62 years, 8 months, and 13 days. Neal Diekevers was born December 29, 1893, at Lucas, Mich. On December 12, 1919, he was joined in marriage with. Jennie Rensink in Newkirk. They lived on a farm there until 1939 when he moved to a farm near Hospers. In 1951 he moved to Hospers where he retired until the time of his death. Mr. Diekevers was active in the community until the time of his sudden death. He had served as an elder and deacon as well as having taught Sunday school for a number of years in the First Reformed church of Hospers. He is survived by his wife, Jennie, two sons, Gerrit J. and Ray, both of Hospers and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ella, Mrs. Jan Scholten, three brothers, Ed, John and Henry. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 14, at 1:30 p.m. in the First Reformed church of Hospers with Rev. Albert Hellenga, officiating. "The Far Away Land" and another selection were sung- by John Bio emend a al, Junior Den Hartog, Clarence Tinklenberg and Albert Heemstra with Mrs. J. J. Riemersma at the organ. Pallbearers were Joe Boender, Walter Den Hartog, Jo Hoffs Henry Warntjes, Henry Te Stroete and Peter Schuller. Interment took place in the Hospers cemetery.
