Elmer Koedam, 92, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Sioux Center Health.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30PM on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. John Lee officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, Iowa.

Visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday, November 14th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Memorials may be directed to Sioux Center Health Hospice and Home Care or the Sioux Center Christian School.

Elmer Koedam was born September 3, 1927 to John and Hattie (Blankespoor) Koedam in Rock Valley, Iowa. He attended country school through the eighth grade near Rock Valley.

He was joined in marriage to Esther De Wild on June 14, 1951 at the American Reformed Church of Hull, Iowa. The couple loved living on the farm where they raised their four children to know and love the Lord. Elmer also worked for many years at Kooima Manufacturing. While in Rock Valley, he was a member of the Calvin Christian Reformed Church. Esther died on February 6, 1991. Elmer was later joined in marriage with Bethal “Beth” Gaut on May 13, 2000. Beth died in June 9, 2017.

Elmer loved the outdoors and anything to do with fishing, boating or camping. He enjoyed music, especially playing the piano and guitar with his grandchildren. He later became a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

He is survived by his four children: Darrell and Lynette (Zylstra) Koedam of Sioux Center; Darla and Doug Vanden Top of Hull; Brenda and Lyle Mars of Alton, IA and Brian and Carla (Elbers) Koedam of Sioux Center; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Esther and Beth; two brothers: Bill (Gert) Koedam and Kenny Koedam; two sisters: Henrietta (Joe) De Goei and Alydia Clarke and nephew, DeWayne Clarke.
