Alphonse Schilmoeller 85 of Le Mars died Saturday Dec 7, 1991 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars after a brief illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Dale George officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Granville under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mr. Schilmoeller was born Oct 13, 1906 in Granville where he was raised and educated. He finished his schooling at Creghton Prep in Omaha and farmed near Granville.

On Jan 20, 1931 he married Helen Kellen in Le Mars. The couple farmed near Granville and moved into town in 1942. He was employed by the city of Granville and at the Farmers Coop Elevator for 11 years, retiring in 1971, and he moved to Le Mars in 1974. He was one of the first residents of Floyd Valley Apartments where he was currently residing.

Mr. Schilmoeller was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Le Mars and the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate.

Survivors include two sons Fred of Sioux Falls SD and Dale of Norfolk VA, six daughters Mrs. John Marg Vander Molen of Remsen, Mrs. Dick Pat McDougall, Mrs. Cliff Betty Hansen and Mrs. Steve Marla Boyer all of Le Mars; Mrs. Dudley Marge Kool of Sioux City and Mrs. John Victoria Robbins of Omaha, 33 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two brothers, his twin, Raymond of Algona and Emil of Remsen; five sisters; Mrs. Leo Henrietta Recker of Dyersville; Mrs. Raymond Mathilda Alesch and Mr. Joe Alvina Augustine both of Remsen; Mrs. Clint Agnes Bunt of Oyens and Mrs. Andrew Josephine Gentrup of Sheldon and Numerous nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by three sons, Larry, Richard and Stephen; twos bros, Albin and Julius; and a sister Mrs. Henry Elizabeth Degen.
