The community was saddened last week when word was received that Mrs. Ray Nelson had passed away Monday, July 1st, at a Pierre, S.D., hospital, after a brief illness.

Alta Mae Castle was born near Rock Valley, October 26, 1897, and was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Castle. In 1919 she was united in marriage to Ray Nelson. To this union five children were born, the eldest being thirteen years of age.

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson resided in this community and near Sherman and Sioux Falls, S.D., for a number of years. This spring they moved on a farm near Highmore, S.D.

The remains were brought to Larchwood Wednesday and services were held at the Larchwood Community church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Pates, local pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Larchwood cemetery.

Surviving Mrs. Nelson are her husband, five children, Cleo, Arnold, Iona, Donna Mae, and Allen; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Castle; and the following brothers and sisters: Pearl Olson, Ruella Kappes, Helen Castle of Chicago, Florence Castle, Mildred Hewling, Orie Castle, Clifton Castle—all of Sioux Falls; Leslie Castle of Delhart, Texas; Ernest and George Castle of this place. All were present at the funeral except Ruella (Mrs. J. F. Kappes of Chicago), and Leslie Castle of Delhart, Texas. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.

Pall bearers were Andy Nelson, Chester Nelson, Warren Nelson, Leonard Seaman, Henry Schipper, and Fred Schipper.

The Leader with the many friends extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved survivors.
