FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR PAUL VANDER ZIEL

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church here at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 3, for Paul Vander Ziel, 49, of 250 4th Avenue Northeast, an employee at the Farmers Co-op Society, who died at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Friday morning following a prolonged illness with cancer.

Services were conducted by the Reverend Richard DeRidder and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

A brief services attended by the immediate members of the family was held at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Chapel preceding the service at the Church.

Pallbearers were Milo Te Grotenhuis, James Brink, Harold Vander Ziel, Bernard Vander Ziel, John Draayer and Arthur Kamerman.

Mr. Vander Ziel was born at Orange City, Iowa, October 5, 1916. He was married to Berdena Draayer at Orange City December 20, 1945. To this union were born the following children, all of whom survived him and reside at home: Neen, Leona, Kenneth, Judy, Donald and Joann.

He is also survived by six brothers - Henry of Council Bluffs, George of Edgerton, Minnesota, Gerrit of Alberta, Canada, Steven of Jackson, Mississippi, Bernard of Orange City, and John of Holland,Michigan.

His parents, Burgert and Berendina Pleiter Vander Ziel; one sister, Catherine, Mrs. Cornie Van Leeuwen preceded him in death.

Mr. Vander Ziel was a World War II Veteran. He entered service in 1942 and served in Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and was in Germany at the time the armistice was signed.
