Frank Vander Maaten passed away last Thursday evening at the age of 62 years. His death came unexpectedly in one of the Sioux City Hospitals where he had gone that morning accompanied by his wife and son Andrew. He died suddenly during an operation.

He was born in the Netherlands March 11, 1864, coming to America at the age of 18 years with his parents, one brother and two sisters. The family moved onto a farm one mile north of Alton where they resided many years and where the children were born and raised and where the son Andrew now resides. Mr. and Mrs. Vander Maaten retired to a modern home at the county seat about a dozen years ago.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at one o’clock at the home and at one-thirty from the church. Reverend H. Colenbrander officiating. A host of friends extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family

A upright man, devoted to his family, with his honesty and righteousness will be keenly felt by all who knew him well.
