Mrs. Dirk Vander Kooi, 74, passed away at her home, Sunday morning, October 2, from the infirmities of old age. She had been ailing the past week but seemed somewhat improved, so her sudden death came as a shock to her family.

Mrs. Vander Kooi, Grietje Stienstra, was born at Menalden, Vriesland, The Netherlands on March 29, 1864. She was married to Dirk Vander Kooi on April 19, 1888. The couple came to this country in 1893 and lived for some time on a farm north of town.

Her husband and one child preceded her in death.

She is survived by five children: Anna, Mrs. Dick Tiemersma; Gertrude. Mrs. Peckel; Rena, Mrs. Roberts; Peter of Hinton and Nic, who is still living at home. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and one brother in the Netherlands.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the First Reformed Church with the Reverend Mr. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in the family plot at the Middleburg Cemetery.
