Nellie J. (DeWall) Vander Hamm, 89, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Thursday, July 13, 1995, at the Indian Hills Care Center in Sioux City after a long illness.

A Memorial Service was held on Monday morning, July 17, 1995, at the Nelson Burger Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Alec Washington officiating. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Reading Township, Sioux County, Iowa following the service. She was of Presbyterian Faith.

Mrs. Vander Hamm was born in Fargo, North Dakota on July 12, 1906, and later moved to Sioux City with her parents and family. She attended Sioux City schools and worked at Fairmont Foods and Woolworth Drug Store. In 1928, she married Emil Vander Hamm in Le Mars, Iowa. Mr. Vander Hamm died in October of 1979.

She is survived by two stepsons, Frank Vander Hamm of Mondovi, Wisconsin and Paul Vander Hamm of St. Joseph, Missouri; a stepdaughter, Ruth (Vander Hamm) Slindi of Seattle, Washington; one niece, Laura (De Wall) Wood; three nephews, Steve and Marc Bernard and Marc De Wall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister.
