Mrs. Roetman – Vander Schaaf, born Kate De Graaf has died Friday Aug 5, 1938 after an operation for appendicitis, died at age 66 years and 2 months. She first saw the light of day at Ackley IA in 1891 then came to Newkirk where she met John Roetman who she married and he died in 1912 at 47 years old. Nine children were born to them. Grace Mrs. J. Verhoef of Forest City, Jennie Mrs. D. Zwaggerman of Sheldon, Gerrit died in 1916, 10 years old, Frank of Sanborn, Margie Mrs. Fred Kreykes of Sheldon, John of Hospers, Ben of Orange City, Edythe Mrs. Donald Kraai of Orange City and Katie of Denver, CO. On 15 Mar 1923 Kate married Wiebe Vander Schaaf, who died in 1936. He had about 8 children. She had 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral Monday at 1 o’clock at the house and 1:30 at the 1st Reformed church. Ds J. G. . Brouwer and Ds J. Ter Louw officiated. Burial was in the Hospers cemetery .

Children Grace 1892, Jennie Zwagerman 1893, Gerrit 1895-1916, Frank 1897, Maragret Kreykes 1899, John Roetman 1903, Benamin Roetman 1904, Edith Kraai 1909, and Kate Killpack 1911.
