Wayne Schut, the son of the late Peter and Gladys (Beernink) Schut, moved to his heavenly home to live with his Lord forever on October 8, 2019, at the Rock Rapids care center. He was born on January 20, 1951. He grew up on his family farm east of Sioux Center. He attended Sioux Center Community School and graduated in 1969. On January 8, 1971, Wayne married Beverly Van Berkel at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Continuing through his years of marriage, Wayne worked on the family farm with his sons; primarily working and managing the feedlot. He and his wife helped start New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center where they served as Youth Group Sponsors for a number of years. He also served as a deacon and several terms as an elder. He loved the people of New Life and had a great passion for the men’s ministry. The past years they were blessed to be members of New Hope E-Free Church in Orange City.

Wayne served on the board of New Life Treatment Center and was a member of the Atlas board for a number of years. Wayne had a strong faith and often would reach out to those who were in need of hearing about God’s love for them.

Wayne loved his family and felt it important to spend quality time with them. He loved to hunt, be in God’s creation, and took joy in watching the seasons change. He spent a lot of time with his family doing all types of hunting. This included deer and elk hunts in Utah with his sons, pheasant hunts each fall with his children and grandchildren, and summer prairie dog trips with his granddaughters and grandsons in South Dakota. The family cherishes all of the amazing memories they have made with him.

Wayne was a man who radiated immense joy in all areas of life. Many recall that he had an incredible ability to have people laughing one minute, and then turn around and be serious the next. Within the last words he left for his family he quotes, “Love and Laughter should always go together.”

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving, devoted wife Bev of almost 49 years, and his 3 sons and their families: Jim and Tiffannie Schut of Crawford, CO; their son JW; and Jim’s older children Austin from Pierre, South Dakota; Alexa from Sheldon, IA; and her fiancée Derek Bonnema. Lyle and Jill Schut of Sioux Center, IA and their children Carly; Cole; and Cora. Greg and Erica Schut of Sioux Center, IA and their children Myka; Izrayel; and Jedidiah.

Also left to cherish Wayne’s memory is his sister Bev (Schut) and Ken Boeve, aswell as Wayne’s in laws: Gene and Bev Van Berkel, Jan (Van Berkel) and Doug Van Meeteren, Arda (Van Berkel) and Loren Van Regenmorter, and Tony and Judi Van Berkel.
