John William Plantage, son of Gerrit and Della (Van Veldhuizen) Plantage, was born September 23, 1928 at Hull, IA. He grew up there and attended country school.

John entered the United States Army on April 8, 1953 at Fort Bliss, TX. He was honorably discharged with a rank of PFC on April 8, 1955 at Fort Sheridan, IL.

John was united in marriage with Jurena "Judy" Boer in Rock Valley, IA on July 28, 1955. They lived in Ireton, IA, Pipestone, MN and Rock Valley, IA before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1978. John worked in Environmental Services at Sioux Valley Hospital for 19 years before retiring.

John was a member of First Christian Reformed Church.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Marla Brandes, Sioux Falls, SD, Gary Plantage, Las Vegas, NV; a brother, William J. Plantage, Rock Valley, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, on March 24, 1997; his parents; and a sister-in-law, Ann Plantage.
