Grandma Ross mother of our townsman George Ross, departed this life Monday night. We are not acquainted with the facts so as to write an obituary, so we leave that to friends of the family. Also, D. A Ross of Manning IA, was in attendance at his mother’s funeral.

Research Note; From a report on Ancestry.com (by others) Mary May Keech was born 8 Oct 1814 McKeesport PA died 7 Oct 1887 Sioux County IA She was married 1833 in Susquehana Co. PA to Hiram Ross 1805-1877. There children were Jesse Ross 1834, Henry Wm. Ross 1840, Casper Ross 1842, Hannah 1844, Daniel A. Ross 1846, Jane Ross 1849, George Ross 1850 and Amanda Ross 1855.

(Although this seems to be the same lady in the death article in the Iowa Index of Hull Iowa who died in 1892, the account on ancestry.com give death date as Oct 7, 1887. Submit corrections to our page coordinator )
