Funeral services for William J. Vanden Bos, 75, were held on Tuesday, November 29, in on Tuesday November 29, in the Second Christian Reformed Church with the Reverend Jay De Vries officiating. Burial was made in the West Lawn Cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Cornelius Muilenburg, Jake De Lange, Arlo De Haan, Julius Hoekman, Henry Bordewyk, Cornie Bordewyk.

Mr. Vanden Bos was born on December 26, 1891 at Harrison, South Dakota, the son of John Vanden Bos and Ella Aardappel Vanden Bos. He was united in marriage to Johanna Bordewyk on January 16, 1914. They lived at Lakeview, South Dakota, until 1926. After a very short time at Harrison, they moved to Orange City, Iowa in 1927.

Mrs. Vanden Bos preceded him in death on April 4, 1954. Mr. Vanden Bos continued living in Orange City until August of 1962 when he made his home at the nursing wing of Sioux Center Hospital. In September 1964, he went to Artesia, California, to make his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Reverend and Mrs. Ver Steeg. He has been with them these past two years.

He had been in limited health and had in the last week suffered several strokes which led to his death at the Pilgrim’s Haven Convalescent Home in Artestia, on Friday, November 25, 1966.

Surviving him are his daughter, Mrs. Benjamin Ver Steeg and her husband of Artestia, California and one grandson, David Ver Steeg and his wife Joan of Ames, Iowa. Also surviving are two brothers, Walter and Clarence of San Marino, California and Glendale, California.

Preceding him in death were his wife and parents, a sister, Johanna, who died in her childhood, and two brothers, Dick and Cornie.

Mr. Vanden Bos was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church of Orange City, where he served as deacon and elder for a number of years.
