Jacob, generally called “Jack”, son of pioneer Peter Van Den Berg deceased, who died at Bingham Lake, Minnesota, Wednesday, was buried here last Saturday. The services were held at the American Reformed Church.

The Van Den Berg family has mostly lived in this and the Carnes vicinities and where they still reside, but Jack moved to Minnesota where his wife’s relatives have made their home. Mrs. Van Den Berg is a daughter of Nicholas Van Horsen, also a Sioux County pioneer and also deceased. They have one child, a son. His brothers, John, William, and Pete and a sister, Mrs. Cornelius Vogelaar survive him.

Among those here at the Jack Van Den Berg Funeral was Peter Van Horsen who used to live with his parents in the home on the hill in the west part of town later occupied by the Olin G. Reiniger family. Peter is a main carrier and he told us that his brother Charles was now the manager of the Washburn Crosby Milling Company’s feed department in Minneapolis.

The Jack Van Den Berg family lived on the former’s farm and where Jack died.
