Funeral services for Miss Lyda Vanden Berg, for many years a resident of this community, were held at the First Reformed Church, April 3rd, with Reverend Ralph Meyer, pastor and Reverend E. Vam Engelenhoven of Northwestern College, officiating.

Miss Vanden Berg was born in September, 1880 to pioneer parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Vanden Berg and was 80 years old at the time of her death at the Orange City Hospital, March 31. She had moved to Alton several years after the death of her brother, Gossen.

Miss Vanden Berg, or Lyda, as she was known to friends and acquaintances here, had only a very few distant relatives. She and her brother willed their 80 acres of Sioux County land to Northwestern College. $500 from the estate has been given to the local First Reformed Church organ fund as a memorial for these faithful members.

Administrators of the estate are Douwe De Boer, Evert Geurink and Reverend Van Engelenhoven.
