Mrs. Grace Vanden Berg, age 93, of Orange City, passed away Sunday, May 14, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Grace was born March 20, 1896 at Hospers, the daughter of Nicholas Dyke and Rose Roosma Dyke.

On February 23, 1916 she married Ben A. Vanden Berg at Hospers. They farmed in the Hospers and Newkirk areas, retiring to Orange City in 1964. Mr. Vanden Berg passed away January 21, 1981 at Orange City.

In August of 1988 Mrs. Vanden Berg, became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City and the Church’s Dorcas Circle.

Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Innes of Western Springs, Illinois, two sons, Robert of Willow Lake, South Dakota and Rodney of Aurora, South Dakota; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Dyke of Worthington, Minnesota and Sherman Dyke of Sioux City, and five sisters, Margaret Dyke of Sheldon, Claire Shoemaker of Walnut Creek, California, Julie Dyke of Sheldon, Beatice McAllister of Sacramento, California and Rose Dyke of Sheldon.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, two infant sons and two sisters, Sadie Schaafsma and Sally Dyke.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 17 at the First Reformed Church of Orange City, with the Reverend Frank Snuttjer and the Reverend Gerrit Docter officiating. Interment followed at the Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
