JOHN B. VANDEN BERG

John B. Vanden Berg passed away last Sunday at his home three miles east of Rock Valley, following an illness of a few days with pneumonia.

Mr. Vanden Berg was born in the Netherlands, March 21, 1886, where he grew to young manhood.

He came to this country in 1904, and since that time had lived in this vicinity. He had resided on the home place east of Rock Valley for the past sixteen years.

Mr. Vanden Berg was a man who was highly thought of in this community. He was a successful farmer and a kind neighbor and friend.

He will be missed not only by his immediate family and other relatives but by the entire community in which he lived.

He was united in marriage February 23, 1912, with Anne De Leeuw, who survives him.

He also leaves four children, Ben, 20 years old; Jennie, 16; Johanna, 12; and Albertus 7. One son died in infancy. He also leaves his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Beert and Janna (Vlijm) Vanden Berg of Rock Valley, who are 82 years old, and two sisters, Mrs. Jake Eppinga of near Inwood, and Mrs. Walter Baker living northeast of Rock Valley, besides other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held in the home at 12:00 and in the Old Reformed Church in Rock Valley at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Reverend Ver Hoef, having charge of the services.
