MRS. NELLIE WOOD SUCCUMBS HERE; SERVICES FRIDAY

Mrs. Nellie Wood, 79, a resident of Hawarden 49 years, died Tuesday at her home following a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 Friday morning at the Frazier Funeral Home and at the First Methodist Church at 10 o’clock. Reverend S.A. Kruschwitz will officiate.

Nellie Spencer was born May 13, 1876, at Farley, Iowa, and later she moved to Sioux City with her parents.

In 1906 she was married to Fred Wood of Hawarden. After her marriage she moved onto a farm northeast of town where she lived until the death of Mr. Wood on February 21, 1916.

Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Wood and her three young daughters came to Hawarden to live.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church and the W.S.C.S. of the Church. She took an active part in church work and at one time was a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Sellgren of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. Alice Gilman of Hudson and three grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Fern, who died two years ago.
