SERVICES HELD AT HOSPERS FOR JOHN WIESE, SR.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, December 18th at 1:30 P.M. from the First Reformed Church with Reverend A. Hellinga in charge for Mr. John Wiese Sr., who passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning about 3 A.M. from a heart attack. Mr. Wiese was janitor of the local Public School for about seven years and the day before he passed away performed his duties as usual, although complained of not feeling well but thinking it the flu.

He was born February 12, 1890 at Marne, Iowa and in the spring of 1892 the family moved to O’Brien County. He also lived at Montrose , South Dakota and operated the Pantry Café at Sheldon although the family continued to reside in Hospers at the time.

Mr. Wiese was married to Kathryn Forst at Montrose, South Dakota on November 25, 1914. They have resided in Hospers for the past 30 years. Besides his wife he leaves three sons: John Jr. a Major in the Army in Georgia; Ronald of Sioux Center; James at home who attends college at Storm Lake and one daughter, Frances at home who teaches at Melvin, also two brothers, Carl of Hartley and Ralph of Inglewood, California; one granddaughter Kathryn Wiese of Sioux Center; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Selk of Calumet, Mrs. Meta Baldwin of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Mrs. Lillian Sweet of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mrs. Les Parks of Compton, California. His parents, one brother, Henry and one sister, Rose, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Roland Walgenbach, Henry Warntjes, Ellis De Bruin, M.H. McHaffey, Dick Hulst and Mince Oordt. Interment took place in the Hospers Cemetery.
