Died: October 3, 1936

Mrs. Grover C. Williams, a resident of this city for the past nineteen years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dorcas Bentley, early Saturday morning. Mrs. Williams had been failing in heath for two years and a month ago she was taken to the hospital at Iowa City for medical attention and it was discovered that her condition was critical. She was brought back to Hawarden Wednesday of last week after everything that medical aid could do had failed to restore her health and she passed away three days later.

Funeral services were held at the Barnard Funeral home at 1:30 Monday afternoon and at the Methodist Church at 2 o'clock with Reverend H. Beyers of Peace Lutheran Church of Sioux Center in charge. A quartet composed of Roger Hodgson, James McNally, Ruth Slife and Mildred Dealy, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I Need Thee Every Hour." The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Loyal chapter of the Eastern Star conducted the services at the grave and she was laid to rest in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Emma Doring, daughter of Conrad and Martha Doring, was born in the township of Gratiot, Wisconsin, December 6, 1884, so she was past 51 years of age at the time of her death. She was baptized and confirmed in the West Wiota Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage with Grover Williams August 4, 1909, at Darlington, Wisconsin, where she lived unit 1917 when the family came to Hawarden. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Loyal chapter No. 204; the Royal Neighbors of America, Ivy Camp No. 1,371, and the Rebekah Lodge No. 589. She was of a happy disposition and her fine Christian spirit, her outlook on life and her consideration for others won and kept her scores of friends, who all express their sympathy to the bereaved husband and children.

She is survived by her husband and three children, Paul, Mrs. Dorcas Bentley and Lawrence, a son-in-law, and a daughter-in-law of Hawarden, and one brother and five sisters, Frank Doring of Darlington, Wisconsin; Mrs. O.B. Peterson, South Wayne, Wisconsin; Mrs. C.E. Dahl, Devils Lake, North Dakota; and Mrs. Jonas Burmeister, Gratiot, Wisconsin; Mrs. Carl Lovelace, Woodford, Wisconsin; and Mrs. Harry Keister, Wiota, Wisconsin. Her parents and one brother, Charley, preceded her in death.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Frank Doring, Darlington, Wisconsin; Mrs. Jonas Burmeister, Gratiot, Wisconsin; Mrs. O.B. Peterson, South Wayne, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lovelace, Woodford, Wisconsin; Mrs. Harry Keister, Wiota, Wisconsin; Henry Burmeister, Rockford, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
