Jacob Wiersma, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wiersma, was born on a farm near Orange City, on October 15, 1878. He farmed in communities of Orange City, Edgerton, Minnesota and Hull, Iowa. In 1940 he entered the Sheldon Holland Home, where he remained until the time of his death. He passed away at the Sheldon Community Hospital on May 24, 1948. He was never married.

Surviving are his four sisters and nine brothers, Mrs. Johanna Hollander and Mrs. Angeline Brouwer of Hull, Mrs. Anna Meyer of Sioux City, and Mrs. Ellen Wobbema of Orange City; and John Wiersma of Lynden, Washington, Henry Fennema of Alton, Gerrit Wiersma of Sheldon, and Peter, George, Joe, Dewey, Sam, and Pier Wiersma of Orange City. One brother, William Wiersma and three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Hollander, Mrs. Dora De Groot, and Mrs. Maggie Schilt, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday at the Sheldon Home and at the First Reformed Church of Sheldon, with Reverend H. Straks officiating. Interment was in the Orange City Cemetery.
