RESIDENT HERE 57 YEARS DIES AT AGE OF 87

Mrs. Vina Wheeler, 87, a resident of Hawarden 57, died Saturday in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Ted Burnight following an illness of many year.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at the Baptist Church with Reverend Paul Williams officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were six grandsons: Lloyd, Lyle, Leon, and Albert Wheeler, Merle Walker and Ted Burnight.

A daughter of Richard and Ellen Garrett, she was born June 18, 1866, at Monroe, Wisconsin, where she grew up. As a young woman she came to Ireton and was married on Christmas Day, 1882, to Dealton A. Wheeler, who was a butcher by trade. She came to Hawarden in 1898 and since then had lived here.

She was a member of the Baptist Church and Rebekah Lodge in Hawarden.

She was the mother of six children, three of whom, Grace, Maud, and Elvin, preceded her in death. Mr. Wheeler died March 14, 1914.

Survivors are three children: Albert of Brook Park, Minnesota; Mrs. Florence Walker of San Francisco, California and Ralph of Hawarden; 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchidren; two brothers, Dan Garrett of Alvord, Iowa and Lem Garrett of Granger, Washington, and one sister, Mrs. Cora Dalan of Silverton, Oregon.

A grandson, Harlan Wheeler of Hawarden and a great-grandson, Stanley Wheeler, are in the service.
