Funeral services were held Saturday, November 21 at the Van Etten Funeral Home and at the Netherlands Reformed Church in Sioux Center for Dick M. Westra, 81, who passed away Wednesday evening, November 18, at the Orange City Municipal hospital. Reverend C. Hegeman officiated and burial took place in the Sioux Center Cemetery:
Mr. Westra was born April 15, 1883 in Vriesland, the Netherlands and came to America with his parents at the age of twelve years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Sybrandy) Westra who died October 18, 1944 and a son, Marion who died November 18, 1962.
Survivors include one daughter Lena, (Mrs. Henry Vande Waerdt) and one grand-daughter, Alice Vande Waerdt, one sister, Mrs Jake Boersma of Chicago, one brother, August, of Chicago, and one brother of Oakland, California.
