From the Alton Democrat, September 28, 1934:

Mrs. Anna Meyer who made her home with her son Fred on a farm in Eagle township for the past 34 years passed away late last Tuesday from infirmities due to advanced years. Mrs. Meyers [note change in spelling] had been critically ill early last summer but recuperated and was able to be about the home again. On Tuesday noon she was unusually well and ate the noon meal with the family. After dinner Mr. and Mrs. Meyers made a short business trip to Sioux Center, leaving Mrs. Meyers in the care of another son, William, who makes his home with them. She visited with William and at about 3:30 expressed a desire to take a nap, departing for her room adjoining the living room. An hour later when the family returned they found that death had taken the mother during her sleep. She was 84 years of age.

Funeral services were held Friday from St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Ireton, and interment took place at St. Paul’s cemetery. Five grandsons and one great grandson acted as pallbearers. The services were in charge of Rev. H. Krieger, pastor of St. Paul’s church.

Mrs. Degan’s two daughters, Mrs. Martin Treiber and Mrs. Peter Treiber, were married 22 years ago, a double wedding being held. They were born and reared in Sioux county. Mrs. Robert Storm is a daughter of Mrs. Martin Treiber and she has spent all her life in Sioux county until just recently when she moved with her family to Glidden, Iowa.
