MRS. GEORGE WATHIER PASSES AWAY AT HOME NEAR ALTON

Mrs. George Wathier passed away at her home near Alton on Tuesday, November 4, after suffering what appeared to be a mild heart attack.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at St. Mary’s Church at Alton, with Monsignor Z. Reising officiating.

Mrs. Wathier, nee Dorothy List, was born at Alton and was 47 years at the time of her passing. She was a graduate nurse and had done some work professionally at the Le Mars Hospital in recent years.

Survivors include her husband and three children: Jean, a student at Iowa University, John at home, and Lucille of Seattle, Washington. Her mother, Mrs. John List of Alton, also survives along with seven brothers and sisters, all of whom were present for the funeral. Pallbearers were Arnold Streff, Junior Streff, Milo Streff of Alton, Thomas Adams and Jerry Adams of Omaha, Dr. J.P. Shaffer of Sioux Falls.

Mrs. Wathier was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America; past president of St. Mary’s Rosary Society and St. Mary’s Guild; local and deanery chairman of D.C.C.W. committee on cooperating with Catholic Charities. She was a member of MAE, a local social club and church. Mrs. Wathier’s kindness extended beyond them to her neighbors, friends and all in need of help.
