Services held for Mrs. A. Wassenaar

Funeral services for Mrs. Andrew Wassenaar, 72, were held at the First Christian Reformed Church on January 23, 1970 with the Reverend Robert Tjapkes officiating. Burial was made at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Alfred Lee Wassenaar, Alan Wassenaar, Raymond Wielenga, Arlin Gesink, Robert Wassenaar, and Wilmar Wielenga. Mr. Hubert Schuller provided the special music and Miss Maria De Jong was the organist.

Susan Wielenga, daughter of Reinder and Willemtje (Cupido) Wielenga was born April 20, 1898 in Sioux County. She was married to Andrew Wassenaar on September 25, 1917. The couple farmed near Orange City before retiring in Orange City.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Wilhelmina Gesink of Denver, Colorado, five sons, James and Joubert of Orange City, Alfred and Donald of Sheldon and Stanley of Redlands, California; 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. One brother, Mr. Peter R. Wielenga of Orange City also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister, her husband who passed away January 21, 1969 and one son, Ralph, who passed away August 6, 1969.
