Died: September 15, 1972Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley at 10 a.m. September 18 for Sam "Sytze" Wassenaar, 85, of Rock Valley, who died at the Rock Valley nursing home September 15 after a long illness.
Services were conducted by the Reverend Ralph G. Ten Clay and burial was in Valley View Cemetery.
Mr. Wassenaar was born in The Netherlands September 22, 1886.
He married Bertha Van Der Mer June 7, 1923, at Salem, South Dakota. His wife preceded him in death in March of 1970.
Survivors include two stepsons, Charles Van Der Mer of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Frank Van Der Mer of New Berlin, Wisconsin; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lawrence Jones, of Lansing, Illinois.
