Layfe Warner, 82, Mitchell, South Dakota, died Saturday, August 12, in Sioux Falls.

Services were held Tuesday, August 15, in Northridge Baptist Church, Mitchell, with burial in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden.

Mr. Warner was born June 20, 1907, in Union County. He grew up on a farm and attended Alcester School. He married Grace Vogelzang on December 15, 1941, in Sioux City. He spent his entire working career in the retail grocery business, first in Alcester and then joined Council Oak Chain, Hawarden. He was then promoted to manager in Canton. In 1952, he joined Randall Super Valu chain as a stockholder and was manager of the Mitchell store for 15 years. In 1966, he semi-retired, but was still active in management of the company for the next 20 years. He was a member of Northridge Baptist Church, and served as trustee for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife; one sister, Mrs. Emery (Genevieve) Olson, San Diego; and several nieces and nephews.
