Mrs. Sandy Albers, age 50, of Alton, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 20, at 10:30am, at the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Robert Drenten will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday, at 9:15am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the funeral home.

Sandra Kay was born on October 24, 1968, in Orange City, the daughter of Donald and Janice (Jacobsma) Wielenga. She was raised in Orange City, where she attended the Orange City Christian School, the Unity Christian High School, and the Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.

On February 2, 1993, she married Troy Michael Albers in Orange City. They made their home in Alton, and she was blessed to work in her family’s business, Orange City Sanitation.

She was a member of the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church.

“Sandy” enjoyed listening to music from a young age, reading historical Christian fiction and classic literature, and being outside flower gardening, sitting by the fire, looking at the stars, and loving life and nature.

She was grateful to have had this gift of life, but her greatest gift was her children. She loved laughing with them. And, of course, she also loved her pets.

She is survived by her husband of more than 26 years; her children, Ruby and Talon Albers; her parents, Donald and Janice Wielenga; and her brother and his wife, Bradley and Julie Wielenga.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Dean Wielenga.
