Mrs. Marie Heyman, age 88, of Alton, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, July 5, at 1:30pm, at the Alton Reformed Church. The Rev. Scott Bonestroo will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, from 12:00noon to 1:00pm, at the church.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Marie Adrianna was born on December 11, 1930, at Lester, the daughter of John and Jacoba (Smit) Bouwman. She was raised on a farm near Lester, where she attended the Cleveland #3 country school.

On June 10, 1952, she married Howard Dale Heyman in Lester. They made their home in Alton, where she was a homemaker. She also served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Heritage House in Orange City for many years. Howard passed away on October 1, 1993, in Sioux City, after more than 41 years of marriage.

Mrs. Heyman was a member of the Alton Reformed Church. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, baking, reading, and a good cup of coffee.

Marie was a kind, gentle person, who was devoted to her family.

Survivors include five children and their spouses, Barbara and Bruce Alderink, of Holland, Michigan; Debra and Brian Mastbergen, of Ames; Lora and Dale Oltmans, of Alton; Alex and Anita Heyman, of Mattawan, Michigan; and Julie and Kelly Plueger, of Craig; nine grandchildren, Matthew (Kendra) Alderink, Sarah (Shawn) Rozeboom, Brett (Hannah) Mastbergen, Grant (Gayle) Mastbergen, Maria (Nick) Mans, Arick (Alaina) Oltmans, Ashley (Scott) Kechner, Carly Heyman, and Isabelle Plueger; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Greta Hommes, of Rock Rapids; and a long-time family friend, Barb Bengard.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Brian; eight brothers, Edward, Thomas, Walter, Marion, Gradus, Dick, Henry, and John Bouwman; and four sisters, Ann Boom, Adrianna Snyders, Mary Jane (infant), and Jeanette (infant).
