From the Alton Democrat, June 28, 1934, Rock Valley news:

Gerrit (Bubbie) Nyhoff passed away at the Sacred Heart hospital, LeMars, Thursday morning, June 24, at three o’clock.

Bubbie was born near Sioux Center on March 23, 1928, and though he had suffered many severe spells, this last sickness, which was located in the nasal cavities, was victor over the best of medical and surgical care and took the bright, happy little spirit back to his Father in Heaven. The little fellow seemed to know his time had come to bid his fond parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nyhoff and sister Jeanette, good-bye.

Bubbie was the only boy in his district school and the school children took up a collection with which to purchase flowers. Paul Foster conducted the funeral services at the farm home south of Rock Valley Monday afternoon. Interment took place at the Soo Center cemetery.
