From the Alton Democrat, June 8, 1934, Rock Valley news:

The nine day old baby of Mr. and Mrs. John Bleik passed away Friday morning at the home. The baby was afflicted so that it could never recover, so God, in His infinite mercy, called it home. The family have the sympathy of neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday at one o’clock at the home. Burial was made at Valley View cemetery.

His death certificate identifies him as Baby of John Bleek [or Bliek], male, born May 23, 1934; father John Bliek, born in the Netherlands; mother Rutyers[?] Brinkman, born in the Netherlands [her obituary, posted separately, calls her Ruth]; died at 6:00 a.m., June 1, 1934; cause, simple meningitis, onset May 29, 1934; contributory causes, congenital hydrocephalis and spina bifida.
