Percy, Solomon born 12 May 1838 died 9 Aug 1894 wife Rosina Mary buried in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton IA. Name variations found - Percy, Persy, Persey, and Percey

Hawarden Independent of Aug 17th 1894

Solomon Percy died at his home in Washington township on Wednesday afternoon of heart failure. He was taken sick in the morning with an attack of bowel trouble and Dr. Mosher was called. He was soon feeling easier and the doctor returned home. In the afternoon he felt much better and got up and went out and sat down on the door step. While sitting there he was suddenly taken much worse. He was assisted into the house and put to be and the doctor was again summoned, but he grow worse so fast the when the doctor arrived it was impossible to do anything for him and he expired in a short time. Mr. Percy was among the oldest settlers in this vicinity coming here in the early seventies. His wife died several years ago and he has since lived with his children on the old homestead. The funeral services take place at the U. P. church on Friday afternoon.

Note: In a report on Ancestry.com (by others) Solomon Percy was born on May 12, 1836 in Highgate Vermont, son of John Percy and Sally Russell. He married Rosina Mary Jenks on Aug 21, 1855 in Akan Wisconsin. Solomon had 11 children. He died August 9, 1894 Hawarden IA (Ireton) His wife Rosina Mary Jenks was born October 14, 1838 in Newark Ohio to Julius Caesar Jenks and Sorany Loranna Sowl. The children listed were – Russell S. Percy, Anna M. Percy, Sarah Adeline Percy, Mary Alice Percy, Lorana Lyndia Percy, Cora Agnes Percy, John William Percy, Jesse Arminda Percy, Aldora Percy, Albert Percy died 1879 and Lionel Percy.
