Dave Patton , 83 PIONEER RESIDENT DIES IN MINNESOTA David Patten, one of the earliest pioneers of Sioux county, died at his home at Pipestone, Minn., Monday, June 30. The deceased formerly owned the Sherman farm just south of Ireton where he resided for many years. During his residence here he was prominently identified with the affairs of the community and was one of The men who aided in the founding of the town of Ireton nearly 50 years ago. Since leaving Ireton Mr. Patten often visited the old home town, on Decoration Day. Mr. Patten, as a banker and capitalist, attained considerable prominence in Minnesota. He was 83 years old at- the time of his death.

Note: From an ancestry.com report on Ancestry.com (by others) David Patten was born 1847 in New York he died Jun 30 1930 at Pipestone Mn and is buried there. He was married to Julia L. Sherman. He was the son of Thomas Patten and May Higgins. 1880 census has him living in Reading Township Sioux county IA. By 1905 he was living in Minnesota.
