Phyllis M. Stachour 81, of Bettendorf, formerly of Clinton, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.

Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Thursday, May 30, 2019, at the Fulton Presbyterian Church – Fulton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory - Clinton. Private family burial will be in the Holman Cemetery, Sibley, Iowa. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bob and Caryl Holleran, Al and Marion Goerdt, Ryan and Whitney Veenstra, and members of the Fulton Presbyterian Church. Phyllis Marie Hensch was born on November 5, 1937 in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Ruth (Mayer) Hensch. Her mother passed away when Phyllis was six years old, she was fortunate to have two mothers after her father married Helen (Johnson), affectionally known as “Farm Grandma.” She was a 1956 graduate of Sibley High School and a 1961 graduate of Morningside College. She married James E. Stachour on June 14, 1959 in Sibley, Iowa.
Phyllis was a teacher her whole life, teaching kindergarten in Sioux City for two years, Sioux Center for 17 years, and after moving to Clinton in June of 1986, was a substitute teacher for several years.

Phyllis was a member of the Fulton Presbyterian Church, the Sunoida Book Club, and PEO Chapter JW. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and traveling with Jim, especially to Ely, Minnesota. She loved spending holidays with family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, James of Bettendorf, two daughters: Nancy (John) Ulrich of Riverdale, Iowa, Catherine (Calvin) Moss of Bettendorf, Iowa; mother: Helen Hensch of Sibley, Iowa; four grandchildren: Margaret (Justin) Brown, Emily Johnston, Annmarie (fiancé Nathan Melchert) Ulrich, and Jack Moss; four great-grandchildren: Grace Olivia Johnston, Kara Joy Johnston, Myles Anthony Brown, and Cameron Michael Brown; her siblings: Douglas (Carole) Hensch of Sibley, Iowa, Lesa (Dan) Kruger of Sibley, Iowa; Daniel (Sandra) Hensch of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Paul (Brenda) Hensch of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant sister: Judith Ann, and her sister: Joanne Pickering.

Memorials can be made to the Fulton Presbyterian Church or the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
