Angeline Tiedemann, age 94 of Sibley, Iowa died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Country View Manor in Sibley.

Memorial service will be 1:30 PM, Sunday, June 2nd at Trinity Lutheran Church of Sibley, IA, with Rev. Barbara Kopperud officiating.

Committal service will be 11:30 AM, Sunday, June 2nd at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery rural Hull, IA.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present, at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

Angeline Tiedemann was born November 20, 1924 at her family farm west of Boyden, Iowa, the daughter of Jake and Anna (Vander Vliet) Jans. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. As a teenager Angeline’s mother died so she helped her father care for her younger siblings. She also provided house cleaning for area neighbors.

On September 6, 1944 she was united in marriage to Edward L. Tiedemann at her parents’ home. Together Angeline and Edward farmed and were blessed with three sons, Wayne, Merlyn and Melvin. They farmed near Hull, IA until 1954, when they moved to Bigelow, MN. In 1968 they moved to a farm near Ashton, IA and retired from farming in 1981, when they moved to Sibley, IA. On August 1, 1995 Angeline’s husband of 50 years, Edward died. She remained living in their home until she became a resident at the Viola Home on July 1, 2018. On March 22, 2019 she became a resident at Country View Manor in Sibley, where she remained until her death this past Wednesday, May 29, 2019.

Angeline was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, served as a Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher and volunteered with the Logos Program. She also was active with the Bible Study and enjoyed sewing quilts and making activity bags for the youth. Angeline like to stay busy with working outdoors, doing puzzles, cooking and baking. She was admired for beautiful needle work, delicious fried chicken and chocolate cake that she served at the family reunions. She loved spending time with her family, always interested in the grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities. Most of all Angeline will be remembered as a strong woman of faith, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her three sons, Wayne (Dottie) Tiedemann of Hull, IA, Merlyn (Julie) Tiedemann of Mason City, IA and Melvin (Pam) Tiedemann of Ashton, IA; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Harriet Vander Zwaag of Sioux Center, IA; a special nephew, Robert (Gladys) Tiedemann; and many other nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Anna Jans; her husband, Edward Tiedemann; six sisters, Henrietta Jans, Ida Vander Zwaag, Tillie Wolters, Grace Hibma, Carrie Mulder and Coba Kleene; and three brothers, Hank, Jake and Mert Jans.
