Lila Kempers, age 78, of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Sioux Center Health of Sioux Center.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, June 1st at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Reverend Carl Klompien officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 1st from 9:30 a.m. until time of Prayer Service at 10:15 a.m. at the church, then we will travel to the Memory Gardens Cemetery for burial prior to the service.

Memorials can be directed to the Sioux Center Health Hospice and Home Care.

Lila Jayne Kempers, age 78, of Sioux Center passed away Saturday May 25, 2019 at Sioux Center Health under hospice care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Anna (Calkhoven) Kempers. She is survived by her sister, Delaine (Marv) Mulder and her brother, Alan (Brenda) Kempers. Other survivors include nephew, Joel (Kristin) Mulder and their sons: Noah, Isaiah and Elijah; nephew, Nathan (Abbey) Mulder and their daughter, Salomae and son, Jachin; nephew, Corey (Krystle) Kempers and their sons: Clayton and Greyson; niece, Jennifer (Joel) Van Otterloo and their daughters: Amelia, Abbie and Marcie.

Lila was born January 10, 1941, in Sioux Center, Iowa. She attended Sioux Center Christian and Western Christian High School. She then furthered her education by attending Reformed Bible College (now known as Kuyper College) in Grand Rapids, Michigan before graduating from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. She completed her education by obtaining her master’s degree in social work and counseling from University of South Dakota. She then used this education in her work at Mid Sioux Opportunity and Hope Haven.

Lila was thankful for the life she had and all the things she was able to do. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. She was a mentor for Crossroads Prison Ministry for 25 years. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Lila was a dear sister, aunt and a friend of many. She will be missed!
