Mr. Russell Kenney, Jr., age 88, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at his residence.

There will be a private family service at a later date.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Russell William was born on March 23, 1931, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of Russell William and Mary (McElroy) Kenney, Sr. He was raised in Kittery, Maine.

He was enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1950 to 1954.

In August of 1961, he married Norma Darlene Van Oort in Orange City, where they made their home.

Russell enjoyed gardening and taking bus trips.

Survivors include his wife of more than 57 years, six children, Robin, of Orange City; Lisa, of Des Moines; John, of Sioux City; Steven, of Orange City; Paul, of Gaza, Iowa; and Larry Scott, of Gaza; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Bea Hilton, of Maine; and Margaret Boyan, of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Pat Trefethen, of Maine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a niece.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
